Safety
Safety Policy
Rules for the language exchange board. Conversations happen only in posts and public comments; there are no private messages or meet-up features.
Protecting minors
- People under 14 cannot sign up until a guardian-consent process is in place.
- Users aged 14 to 17 cannot use the exchange board, so they are not connected with unknown adults. All solo learning features remain available.
- E-mail addresses, phone numbers, messenger IDs, social media accounts and links are not allowed in posts or comments (they are not saved, and you are told why).
Reporting and blocking
Every post and comment can be reported or its author blocked.
- When three different people report something, it is hidden immediately, even before an admin checks it; the admin then confirms or restores it.
- Blocking hides each other's posts and comments and stops comments; the other person is not told.
- Reporters' identities are never shown to the reported person.
- To prevent spam and report abuse, each day is limited to 5 posts, 50 comments and 20 reports.
- Serious violations can lead to suspension or a ban.
What others can see
Other members see only your nickname and the posts and comments you write. Your e-mail, user ID, age and real name are never shown. Posts and comments you delete disappear immediately.
Staying safe
- Don't share your real name, address, school, workplace or anything else that identifies you.
- Report requests for money or investment offers right away.
- Don't put up with unpleasant or worrying conversations; block right away.
- We don't recommend meeting outside the Service; we can't protect you from what happens there.
